    Articles and Audiences

Whenever and whatever a writer may be dealing with they should always keep their audience in mind - this is especially the case when you are writing in an interactive medium such as the web. There is an art to writing articles for the web; or so I have discovered. Use simple language and short paragraphs wherever possible. Many web masters also want a number of sub-headings in their articles and these work well when you are writing for the web. Using sub headings is also a good idea in your own blog posts. It helps the reader to follow your argument and hopefully to engage with text enough to leave you a comment.

    Sub Headings

Sub headings signal your intention to introduce more material. They are also a good way of giving lazy readers some idea of what the article is about. As a blogger you will no doubt be conscious of search engines and optimizing your content - search engines like sub headings and they tend to read them which means they get more of your content. These headings are also helpful if you want to rewrite the article at some point.

    Article Structure

Once you find a structure that suits you and your writing style try to stick to it as often as possible.Think of a catchy title that will make your readers want more and then add your sub headings. Sub headings and a considered structure makes it much easier to rewrite an article should the need arise. Some writers say that they will make several different versions for submitting to article directories and selling on writers' forums that deal in content creation.

Some of the top bloggers recommend that rather than finishing your blog articles too neatly you should leave room for posing a question as this can encourage readers to comment, and comments can make your blog more popular and increase your blog traffic. I have certainly started using this tactic over at my other blog,  I'll let you know whether it does inspire more comments or whether I need to improve my blog articles in other ways.

    Freelance Web Writing

Freelance web writing is a rapidly growing sector as more business owners have neither the time nor the expertise to write their own copy. While I do write stuff that is not intended for the we, most of my freelance writing falls under that heading. There is a lot of scope for freelancing in this way providing you write decent English and have a fairly quick turnaround time. As a general rule I try to make sure that I keep to any deadlines that clients set.

During the Christmas period and immediately after however, I was extremely stressed for reasons I will not mention here and some of my work was late -
